hiiiii
welcome to my first k-drama review (hopefully one of many)

I thought I would start with the show Strong Girl Bong-Soon because it is one of my absolute favourites and it has the perfect amount of everything!
*WARNING SPOILERS*
Synopsis –
This drama is about a girl called Do Bong-soon who has superhuman strength which is passed along the women of her family. She is unemployed and is useless at everything besides doing things involving her strength and video games. Thanks to her strength she gets a job of a bodyguard to a rich CEO of a gaming company Ahn Min-Hyuk, who is being blackmailed and therefore enlists her help. The show focuses on her helping him with his problems as well as helping a policeman called Guk-Doo, who she has been in love with for several years with a series of kidnappings that occur in her district.
The series has 16 episode which are each about an hour long. You can find it on most Netflix servers.
Characters –
Park Bo-Young as Do Bong-Soon

One of the reasons I love this drama is because of the female lead. She is amazing as this character and manages to be cute and inspiring at the same time. What I love about her is she isn’t your typical female lead who is constantly in need of help from her male co-stars, instead she is strong and confrontational and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. She is extremely relatable especially around her crush and is so sweet when she accidentally hurts people with her strength. As the show goes on she learns to control her strength and use it for the good of the people.
Park Hyung Sik as Ahn Min Hyuk

Okay if the synopsis didn’t immediately grab your attention I will give you one reason to watch this show – PARK HYUNG SIK. He is possibly my favourite actor of all time (you might recognise him from Heirs or Suits) and he is AMAZING in this show. His character is hilarious and will honestly make you burst out laughing; but don’t worry you also see his sweet side with his genuine affection for Bong-soon. He also dresses AMAZING and is one of the reasons I’m so in love with him. He is like a little puppy in this show and you will fall in love with him I promise. (I fell in love with him in his first scene when he is riding around the park on his Swegway and black tinted glasses)
Best Scene – When he swoons and fangirls over Bong-Soons video of her saying goodnight to him. (He rewatches it about four times and is then unable to sleep he’s so happy). Look at the last gif of him at the bottom of the blog.
Ji Soo as Guk-Doo

Ji soo plays this character very well and of course he is very good looking. His character is one of those characters that you find funny because when everyone else is being chill he is being completely serious. I actually never shipped him with Bong-Soon but he does make for an interesting love triangle. As well as this he is shipped with Min-Hyuk more times in the show than with Bong-Soon which makes for some amusing scenes.
There are many other amazing characters in this show including Bong-Soon’s parents and the hilarious gangsters that are incapable of beating Bong-Soon. Other characters that I loved were the high school group of boys that became obsessed with Bong-Soon and referred to her as their boss; they even made her a fan website!
Why is this drama so good?
This is one of my favourites as unlike other dramas there aren’t extremely lengthy pauses where the two main characters look into each others eyes for 10 minutes or one of the characters spending a whole episode coming up with reasons why they can’t be together. It is fast paced and has elements of romance, comedy and thriller (through the kidnappings and solving the crime) and will keep you hooked every episode. The romances do not feel forced or rushed but actually come about through real character development; Bong-Soon and Min-Hyuk are possibly my favourite ship ever.
Here are some swoon worthy moments from Min-Hyuk –

Overall I would give this drama a 5/5 and strongly recommend it to everyone!!!
Let me know what you thought of it in the comments!
